Troubleshooting Bing Verification and IndexNow Insights Link

The InstaIndex app provides a one-click solution to verify your site in Bing Webmaster Tools and direct access to the IndexNow insights page. This magic link allows you to monitor the indexing status and performance of your URLs submitted via InstaIndex on Bing. By clicking the link in the app, you can automatically verify and add your site to your Bing Webmaster account and start benefiting from enhanced indexing insights.

Common Issues and Solutions

Verification Is Not Working

We have found that the Bing verification process can sometimes be a bit inconsistent. Sometimes it works on the first try—you click the link, sign in with your Google account, and your site appears in your Bing Webmaster Tools account. Other times, you might be asked to verify the site again. In such cases, simply clicking the link again usually resolves the issue. Occasionally, it may take up to three attempts for the verification to work.

This inconsistency is due to issues on Bing's side and has nothing to do with the InstaIndex app. We have notified Bing about this, and we appreciate your patience as they work to resolve it. Once your site is verified and added to your Bing Webmaster Tools account, accessing the IndexNow insights page becomes seamless from the app.

Key Points:

  • If verification doesn't work the first time, try clicking the link again.
  • It may take up to three attempts for verification to succeed.
  • The issue is due to Bing's verification process, not the app.
  • Once verified, you can access the IndexNow insights page smoothly.

Submissions Not Showing on the IndexNow Insights Page

If the app is submitting URLs but you're not seeing any data on the IndexNow insights page in Bing Webmaster Tools, don't worry. Bing takes a few days for new sites just starting to use IndexNow before it begins showing submissions on the IndexNow page. This delay is related to processing data for display within Bing Webmaster Tools and not the actual processing of your URLs for indexing.

Rest assured, submissions are processed in real-time, even for new sites. If the app shows 200 (or 202 for the first few submissions) response codes, your submissions have been acknowledged by Bing and other search engines using the IndexNow protocol.

Key Points:

  • A delay of a few days is normal before submissions appear on the IndexNow insights page.
  • The delay affects data display, not the indexing process.
  • 200 or 202 response codes indicate successful acknowledgment.
  • Continue using the app; data should appear after a few days.

Not All Submitted URLs Are Getting Indexed

While the IndexNow protocol streamlines notifying search engines about changes on your site in real-time, it doesn't directly influence their decision to index the updated pages. IndexNow replaces the traditional method where search engines crawl your entire site to find changes. By implementing IndexNow, you reduce the time it takes for search engines to become aware of changes, and search engines appreciate sites that use it.

However, indexing decisions are ultimately made by search engines based on various factors, including your site's authority, content quality, and overall SEO health. You can improve the likelihood of your pages being indexed by optimizing your SEO practices and improving site speed. Remember, SEO is a long-term process, and your efforts take time to reflect in search results.

Key Points:

  • IndexNow notifies search engines of changes but doesn't guarantee indexing.
  • Indexing decisions depend on factors like site authority and content quality.
  • Improve indexing by enhancing SEO practices and site performance.
  • Be patient; SEO improvements take time to show results.
